Kashkuli oriental rug 148 x 234 cm

Kashkuli rugs are hand-knotted with a wool pile, and the fine, precise knotting often incorporates cotton or silk wefts, giving the rugs a compact surface. Designs vary widely, but characteristic motifs include adapted Herati patterns and prayer arch designs featuring cypress trees. A broad colour palette is employed to add variation and richness to the overall effect. The knot density ranges from 250,000 to 350,000 knots per square metre.
