Mashad rugs are hand-knotted wool rugs that are typically produced in large sizes with central medallion layouts and expansive fields. They come from the Mashad region, famous for producing some of the finest quality wool in the world. Mashad rugs often feature rich red tones combined with blue, purple or cream backgrounds, complemented by floral motifs, corner elements and multiple decorative borders. The dense ornamentation and high-quality wool give the rugs a full, detailed appearance and a strong visual presence. Knot density ranges from 200,000 to 250,000 knots per square metre.
