Keshan rugs are hand-knotted wool rugs that are famous for their finely detailed, all-over designs featuring a central medallion. These rugs are densely filled with realistic floral motifs and vines, while their borders often feature the Herati motif and rosettes. Common colour combinations include a red field with a blue medallion and secondary accents in additional tones. The rugs have a cotton warp and weft and the knot density ranges from 150,000 to 250,000 knots per square metre.
